Jump roping.

I tried jogging a while ago a but it isn't so exciting for me, but I do have a jump rope and I think I have taken a fancy to it. I just started and I am doing ten sets of 150 35 seconds apart, not very impressive I know, but it's only been two days since I started doing it and it's been too long since I have done any kind of cardiovascular exercise. I like it because it builds coordination and rhythm. Just make sure you have a nice soft pair of shoes to use if you are going to add this exercise to your routine, there have been a few people who have messed up their knees doing this the wrong way, and don't forget to warm up and stretch a bit before you start and of course pray.

Mexican food.

Friday night, again. Time just shoots by so fast these days. Any way I wanted to make some thing special that I was certain my guests never tasted, so I went for Mexican. I looked up a few concepts to base off of and then went to work. And I called on Paco(thats right from LWG) to help me from the spirit world.
I made a good sauce and we had pork and beans, I don't think I ever had them that tasty before(sorry don't remember what I put in it). Had all that with some good veggies and on top of all that goodness Seimi made this great coconut pie. What can I say except that life is good.
Anyway, dinner was great and I am happy to be alive. Good food just makes life that much better.

Could you guys....

Hey guys! I hope you're all having a good day today. I was just thinking that if you like the food you see below if it wouldnt be too much to ask for you to comment on which ones you all like or which ones you are likely to use in your kitchen. Is that ok? Thank you, and if you're ever in Toyota Japan come to my kitchen and I'll take good care of you.

Graduation celebration.

Today was a very special day, we celebrated the kids graduating and going into the next grade. They all did super good in their school and I was so proud of them.
And no celebration is complete without a special dinner, so we asked what they wanted, they asked for pizza and thats what they got. I made my own pizza sauce, and the home loved it. i wish that I remembered what I put in it, but alas I don't.
And to make the night even more enjoyable Seimi made some exquisite chocolate Parfets. Good thing I worked out as hard as I did.
Oh and something special happened today that was really encouraging. I just finished working out, and then I got this real bad stomach ache. It hurt so bad that I couldn't move, so I went and groaned on the living room couch. Auntie Crysolite came in and asked me what what was up and then she laid hands on my stomach and prayed, and I kid you not, my friend, as soon as she started to pray the pain left me. Right after that I got up and went about cooking dinner good as new. Very heavy. The keys kick some ass alright.

Mushroom cream sauce.

Well it's Friday night again and, as usual, we had guests over for dinner. I usually ask them what they want and this time they asked for spaghetti , but not with tomatoes seeing as Tsutomu's wife is allergic(and soon to give birth to a beautiful baby boy). So I thought about what to make, that I haven't already posted about, and I came up with a mushroom cream sauce recipe(thanks for helping from the spirit world Mom you're the best, muah). They loved it and so did my home.
Here's what you need to make it:
2 heads of finely chopped garlic
2 tbsp of flaked red Chile
4 pinches of rosemary
a couple shake of thyme
a couple shakes of sage
3 small bags of mushrooms(I used locally grown shitake that our neighbors grew, tasted so good)
4 small carrots
3 4ths of a baking cup of flour
2 tbsp of salt
2 tbsp of consome
a couple shakes of pepper
3 cups of water
1.5 liters of whole milk
200 grams of bacon
5 bay leaves
4 tbsp of butter

And here's how you do it: First, put a small pot of water on to boil(big enough to fit 4 carrots), then chop up all that garlic, get out your cooking pan and put in enough oil to cook the garlic, put it on very low heat and let it heat up, then put in the garlic, Chile, herbs leaves. Just let that cook on low for about ten min, or until the garlic is done, cooked but not crispy. While the garlic is going peel and chop those carrots, the water should come to a boil in a few minutes when it does put in the carrots and cook them till they are soft(5 to ten min should be enough), once they're done strain them and let them cool for a bit and then blend them with a cup of water. By this time the garlic should be ready. Throw in the mushrooms and cook on medium for about 5 min, then take the carrot puree and combine it with the garlic and the rest of the water and about two cups of milk. Let that cook on medium for another 15 minutes. Next make a thick paste in a pan with 2 big tbsp of butter, and the rest of the milk, let it come together and do it until it's thick but not lumpy. Then combine it with the rest of the goodies in the other pot, then put in the salt, pepper, consome, cook it for another five min and thats it folks. I loved this sauce, and some time soon I wanna make lasagna with it, I haven't had cream sauce lasagna in years. I'll post when I make it. Bon appetit my friend.

"The plump partridges and the hungry man."

Photo courtesy of: PAUL KEMP stock.xchng.hu
Since Christmas time I have been craving Pheasant meat. The song about the 12 days of Christmas, which just so happened to be our resident toddlers favorite at the time, mentioned a partridge in a pear tree. Every time I would hear it my mouth would water as I thought of the sauces and gravy that I could prepare with a good roasted pheasant, every time that song would play it annoyed me so much. The reason it annoyed me was that we've seen pheasants around here so many times and I really wanted to hunt some. Over the past few months I haven't devoted much to those fowl thoughts (pun intended), but then today Me, Mike and Christian saw two , guessed it, pheasants right next to our car, we stopped and opened the door, and they took off, arggghhh. So close yet so far, if only I had a sling shot with me I would have at least gotten one of them, sigh.

Chest, shoulder, triceps and back.

Ok, this is it. I have had it with people bugging me about my laziness, haha. This is the first of the posts concerning workouts, health, fitness and anything concerning muscles, I hope you find them helpful. I train old school in my room using a combination of weights and body weight training routines that focus on upper body conditioning. I do this much of each exercise but I progress each week. I start with prayer and a small stretch.

And no jokes about the cuts on my head, people, a light fell on me while I was doing a sacrificial deed. These were taken about a week ago and since then it's gotten a lot better.

I begin with 1oo plus ups. I do these with a mirror by my side so I can look at my form and make sure that I am not cheating , and make sure that my form is good. Make sure you go all the way down and all the way up(dip lower then the photo above, I was posing for the cam and freezing so he could get the shot).

Next stretch. Then Get to work on the dips. I do these in sets of 20 ten times with a minute in between each set. Dip as low as you see above and go all the way back up.

Then I do a little stretching and I do push ups on my knuckles, again with a mirror to watch my form. I do ten sets of ten a minute apart.

Then I do grip training with "Captians of Crush" grippers. I start with the hardest one(the #2 CoC) I have which is 88 kilos of pressure(195 pounds) and I do 2 reps with it, with my right. Then I do my left and do about 6 to ten with the #1 CoC which is 63 kilos of pressure(140 pounds). Then I do my right again with the #1.5 CoC which is about 76 kilos of pressure(167 pounds) about ten times. I do left again with a 45 kilo gripper and I do it 20 plus times. I switch again to my right and do the #1 CoC ten plus times wait for forty seconds and then do the 45 kilo gripper(100 pounds) 20 plus times. Then I do ten sets of ten on each hand with the 45 kilo gripper. I keep all these reps 40 seconds apart. And I do each one till the metal meets.
A little trivia the 88 kilo #2 is that at last years Arnold Schwarzenegger body building competition the company that makes these passed this one around and none of the those guys competing could close it all the way till metal met in the middle. This gripper is rarely closed, by any one unless they have trained their grip. I have it with me a lot. It's so funny to give it to these big mountains of muscle and watch them try and fail to close it, I mean I'm pretty muscular but I am only 171cm and 86 kilos and some of the guys I give this gripper to are humongous and they make me look like a kid and they still can't do it all the way.]
BTW, when you first start with the CoC grippers you get a blister on your little finger(or the whole hand could suffer if you're soft and not to used to it), but after a while you get used to it, and you never turn back.
A little warning I would like to add is that these thing are very addictive and side effects in include: greater strength and larger fore arms.
One more thing I would like to add is that these grippers are the best in the world. There's a lot of companies out there that make these but the difference is this: CoC measures the pressure by the resistance it puts out, while other companies measure the pressure by the power it takes to close it. This is the best way of measuring grip strength known to man. I found one gripper that had never been used before at this sports store and it was 100 kilos of pressure(220 pounds), I had a try at it and I did it so hard the metal ground together, I would go so far as to say if they had the 130 kilo (290 pound) type there I would have closed that one too, so much for that companies grippers, only good for showing off. Suffice it to say that CoC is the best way to train your grip.

Croutons and more

We had chicken thigh pasta yesterday, the recipe for the sauce is the same as the vegetarian sauce, just fry the chicken just before you serve it to keep it real tender.

I love croutons, but I just ran out, so I decided to make my own with brown bread(no white trash for me). It's for about two meals.
Here's what you need.
8 slices of brown bread
few pinches of salt
some of those mixed herb I was telling you about
Four cloves of garlic and a couple tbsp of butter.

And here's how it goes: Preheat the oven at 250(Celsius), chop up that garlic really small, then put it in a small bowl and combine it with the butter and put in in the micro wave for about 30 seconds, then butter the bread with it, and slice it into the size you want it to be and put it in a bowl and mix in the salt and herbs and then put it in a non oiled oven tray and bake it for 20 minutes checking it occasionally to make sure it cooks evenly. These really make a good salad that much better.
Our resident toddler couldn't stop from eating them and he just kept coming back for more with his little bowl. I said "sure Dave you can have fourths, how many do you want?" and he goes with all fingers out and both hands up " ten!". And then he proceeds to count out ten of them. He liked them so much I gave him the rest of the batch. This is one of the first times he really enjoyed my food, so I am very happy.

Green Curry

I made this curry for a get together that we had for our friends. They wanted Indian and thats what they got. I was a in a hurry when I made it so I didn't write what I put into it, the main veggies are: spinach, onions and tomatoes. Of all the curries I made this one is one of the best, we have a lot of spinach now so I will make it again some time. The Potatoes were tasty and easy to make, I'll post for those in the future as well.
